Info note:

It’s Summer 2019 and Detroit originals Tyvek are back in a fresh new style with their self-released EP “Changing Patterns of Protective Coating.”

Songs note:

Plastic and bright with smartphone attention span, “I’ve Not Thought Once” is an overdue lament from the self-satisfied, fitness-obsessed professional consumer. “We’re Back” eschews the simple arrogance most groups would bring to such a basic theme in favor of a more mindless approach that actually rocks, with a swipe at incels for added fun. Instrumental jams “30th” and “34th / Market” materialize like intermittent visions dreamt up while catching Z’s on public transportation until - bam! - it’s time to punch in.

Band note:

Alex Glendening, who fronts psychedelic-pop ringers Deadbeat Beat, plays bass. On drums is Fred Thomas, a veteran performer under his own name and as well as with too many groups to name (Fred also recorded the EP, natch). Guitarist Shelley Salant has established herself as one of Michigan’s most interesting musicians (let alone guitar players) both in her solo project Shells and new three piece XV. Kevin Boyer, who sings and plays guitar, is responsible for the cover art on this release. He also plays in the Intended.

This EP is limited to 500 copies.
